Marcel Giraud was born in September 1937 in Vallauris. At 13 he left school to become an apprentice potter at the workshop of Blaise Rubino. He later worked at the Tiola workshop and others in the area. In 1960 he opened his own pottery studio in Vallauris, where production was mainly utility ware. From 1975 Giraud continued painting and moved towards sculpture in metal and stone. Nowadays officially retired Marcel Giraud continues to produce sculptural figures, animals and other decorative objects.
NB There was another Marcel Giraud (1897-1985) who worked in Vallauris. He was not a relation of the above artist. He signed his work gemA.
