The Småland foundry (1947 - 1976) was a small glass factory just north of Johansfors in Sweden. Josef Schott was a designer at the factory for many years.Born in 1915 in Marienbad (now the Czech Republic), Schott studied at art schools in Salzburg and Berlin. After World War II, he moved to Sweden, where he first worked as a jewellery maker. Later he moved to Norway, returning to Sweden in 1955 when he became a designer at the Småland foundry. He designed a wide range of models, including sommerso vases, vases with relief patterns and also clear glass. Schott was an accomplished painter and sculptor and he worked as an art teacher in Nybro. He died in 2009 at the age of 94.
