Item No: D130
Very collectable set of 3 Animal Hangers by Walther Bosse, Austria. Having begun his career designing and producing mainly ceramics, Bosse (1904-1979) expanded his production in the 1940s into glass, toys and textiles, as well as craft items for the gift market. In the early 1950's, Bosse started his "Black Golden" line of brass with a black patina. Working with Herta Balle in Vienna, he created a large number of charming animal figures. His work was widely copied and he actively tried to prevent this in the courts. Sadly this meant that he died penniless. He is however considered a seminal figure in copyright law for designer goods.
All three hangers are unmarked, which was not uncommon. All show signs of wear - (We purchased with wooden plaques and nails still in). The cat's whiskers are worn!
