Pair of Tremar Lamp Bases. Wiring has not been checked. Marked to the base. Height (not including lamp holder) 25cm.(9.75in)
Tremar is a village two miles north of Liskeard in Cornwall, where Roger and Doreen Birkett set up a pottery studio in the early 1960s.
They produced hand-thrown domestic ware that sold mainly to tourists. By the mid-1970s the pottery was operating from three sites. Production had changed to mainly moulded ware and the Birketts saw that there was a good market for 'collectables'. They produced small animals, people, vehicles, boats and buildings.
In the mid-1980s a combination of various economic factors caused the company to close down.
